Overnight Guided Eco Adventures

Camp3.gif - 15.8 K David Harraden and our experienced naturalist guides of North American Canoe Tours and the Ivey House welcome you to join us on an Everglades Eco Adventure. We have provided overnight guided adventures in the Everglades since 1979. The Everglades has an understated beauty and although you will usually not find a posing alligator around each bend in the river, you will discover the subtle and seductive beauty that is unique to our hemisphere. All of our adventures are “self-help” trips. Your naturalist guide will prepare each meal, but you are invited to participate in camp site preparation. Equal time has been allocated to paddling and leisure activities and you should take advantage of your guide’s knowledge of the natural history of the Everglades. All participants need to be reasonably proficient in the handling of the boat (canoe or kayak) one plans to use. Trip schedules and time constraints do not allow for paddling or boat handling training. This trip is based on double occupancy in each tent.

All overnight guided adventures with North American Canoe Tours include camping in the Everglades National Park or surrounding area, all meals from lunch on the first day to lunch on the last day, use of a boat, all necessary camping equipment, and an experienced naturalist guide. Often, many of our guests extend their stay to see more of this unique area. We offer a variety of lodging at the Ivey House and all guests joining an overnight guided adventure will receive a 10% discount on any Ivey House lodging. Please make an advance reservation.

During these adventures we explore parts of the Everglades National Park by paddling through narrow mangrove tunnels and across beautiful scenic bays. Our guests have the opportunity to see ospreys, eagles, herons, turtles, alligators, and a variety of bromeliads. If the weather is cooperative, we sometimes venture to the beautiful white sandy beaches to look for seashells, bottlenose dolphin and horseshoe crabs.

Participants need to have some canoeing or kayaking experience to join a NACT overnight guided trip. We also provide overnight guided trips for large groups and will base camp outside of the Everglades National Park. If you arrange a group of seven or more on your own, you can choose your own dates, pending availability, and it will be a private trip. Arrange a family reunion, work party, wedding party, or a group of friends. NACT offers discounts for groups of seven or larger.

An advance reservation is required for all Overnight Guided Adventures. Overnight Guided Adventures are available Nov. 1, 2007 through April 1, 2008

All participants on an Overnight Guided Eco Adventure receive a 10% discount for lodging at the Ivey House.

CANOE OR KAYAK PADDLE ECO ADVENTURES

Dolphins may echolocate off of your boat, alligators may swim under your tent, mullet may jump high into the sky, a flock of ibis may glide over you at sunset, and you may see the most incredible sunsets one can imagine. SKIFF ASSISTED PADDLE ECO ADVENTURES

The Skiff Assisted Paddle Adventures has become the most popular NACT adventure. It consists of a smaller number of people and you are able to explore areas few others have experienced. The skiff is just a means of transportation which transports you and your kayak to unique and out of the way places. The Skiff Assisted Paddle Adventures’ most unique aspects are that you don’t have to paddle your gear each day and you won’t be paddling across the open water areas against the winds and tides. Some of our favorite spots have been Gopher Creek, the New River and Sweetwater Bay canoe trails. Often on this trip there is an opportunity to visit a pristine beach for sea shelling. Sunset and sunrise paddles are always a favorite part of the Skiff Assisted Paddle Adventure! We require a minimum of 2 participants with a maximum of 5 on our skiff assisted trips. David Harraden will be your Naturalist Guide and Licensed Captain.
